After returning to "Training" page, the first lesson always gets selected

Previously, after I finish a lesson and press "Back to Training" button on the "Results" page, the "Training" page was focused on the lesson I just took. Now, it always jumps to "Lesson 1". This is really inconvenient when I'm exercising the same lesson several times in a row.

Thank you for your message. You are completely right. This is only a workaround, because we have some issues with our server and we changed this in order to relive the server until we implement a different way to select the last lesson.

So soon this function will come back.

Thanks for your message. You can help us integrating the Spanish Mac keyboard to TIPP10. For that reason we enabled the Developer area for you. It's very simple. In the top navigation you can click "Developer" and then "Keyboards". After selecting the Spanish keyboard layout for Mac you can enter all characters without and with modifiers.
To test the layout, simply enable the Spanish keyboard layout in your Settings.

This is a great online program and I first want to thank you for making it available for free!

There is an issue that "bugs" me however, so I bring it to your attention:
when training "Capitalization" there are two different words: Al (the name), and AI (abbreviation for something). When I see them I never know which one it is and I have to guess.

Maybe the issue is in my own selection of browser font, that I don't know, but if there could be more of a distinction between the two that would be awesome.

Thank you for your message and your nice words. You can change the font of the ticker under "Settings" - "Training" - "Ticker". Choose "Courier New" to have a better font for the distinction between the I and l.

Every time I load an exercise where an apostrophe is involved a database error 309 about permissions not being granted. I have a snapshot of the error in case you needed. I've already granted read and write permissions to all the other groups and still not working.
Is this a known issue?

We are sorry about that. The software version is not up to date, there are unfortunately a lot of known issues. We spent a lot of time in the online version and didn't had/have enough time to publish a new software version yet.

To solve your problem, there are two ways:
1. Switch to the online version, which is much better, up to date and has more features.
2. Replace all single apostrophes with two apostrophes before creating an own lesson. That should work.

We miss some characters on our definition of the Belgique keyboard layout for Apple. It's hard to find out with Google where some special characters are.
Can you please help us and tell us how you type the following characters on your Belgique keyboard layout for Apple:

We are confused because it seems that on Apple there is the € on the same key, where the ] is on Windows.

Sure,

| = shift+alt+l (lowercase L)

@ = @ (the key under esc)

# = shift+@

^ = ^ (the key on the left of $, it's an accent key so it expects another character to be pressed after)

{ = alt+(

} = alt + )

[ = alt + shift + (

] = alt + shift + )

€ = alt + $

ps: I tried to donate but setting up paypal is a bit complicated and doing a transfer requires to send a written authorization to my bank due to the new regulations. You might consider adding a standard credit card payment option if it's not too much work. A lot of people don't have a paypal account.

I classes of 20 students that successfully created and used accounts that worked up until last week. On October 12, we would try to log on and we would get a server error. Can you please let me know if this will be fixed?

If I try to start an exercise, it brings up the rectangular box just like it will get ready to start if you push the spacebar. However, it had a spinning icon in the middle of the box and it just spins. I closed down the browser and restarted the computer but this does not help.

Apostrophe (') key not working during exercise session

When I create my own lesson using an apostrophe character, and then launch it, the apostrophe is not recognized. The character works perfectly during the configuration of the lesson, there are no errors, but as soon as the lesson is triggered that key will not work and only the mistake highlight pops up, and will not let me continue. This is happening on both versions, online and the downloadable app. If you want I can share some snapshots or video capture for further details.

Thank you for your message. We tested your "I'm" lesson with exactly the same configuration like yours: OS X, Chrome and an US Qwerty keyboard. It works.
Also when we choose the screen keyboard under OS X it also works.

It seems like your keyboard is writing a different character than "'", for example "`" or "´"?

It would be nice if you could help us solving the problem. Can you please try as a first step a different browser?

Not all users can login

In class all my students can login but now they are at home and the cannot login.
I first thougt it was the browser but i tried the different browsers and that seems not the problem. Then i thought maybe i have to many users (55) so i deleted the ones that didn't come to the first lesson. But know i see i have 47/100 users.
Can you suggest what can be the problem?

Thank you for your message. What exactly happens when your students sign in at home? What does the website say? I think the number of users can not be the problem.
Around 300 schools are using our school version at the moment, but no one of them have problems like yours. Is the problem still there on your side?
When exactly happens the problem and where is your school? Perhaps it was a general connection problem to German servers at one single day?

Unable to find the Colemak layout in the Portable version, and neither in the Manual. However, some bug resolutions seem to address the Colemak layout, so it was definitely part of your options earlier.

When I put a valid HTML text into my own lesson such as



and then later try to edit this text the editing window renders html as any browser would do

Cannot provide an example because when I embed HTML text I get "invalid characters" message when I try to submit this bug report.

Thank you very much for this problem report. Indeed there is a bug and HTML tags are not interpreted a plain text. We will fix this bug in the next software release. Until then you can use the online version - there you can use HTML tags.

I have found that in every lesson, if I accidently press backspace, and I have error correction set to "Use backspace" I have to press backspace again to correct. This might not be a problem for qwerty users, but on Colemak it is easy to hit backspace accidently. While it isn't a major issue regardless, it seems a bit off.

Apostrophes (') are missing from lessons (US Colemak)

I'm using an iPad 3 with iOS 8, and typing on an apple bluetooth keyboard. Apostrophes are introduced in Lesson 8, but during the lesson, there are none - so instead of "I'll", I have to type "Ill". It's the same in the following lessons as well; no apostrophes. If I click 'Details', I can see them in the text of the lesson.
I'm learning the Colemak layout.

Thank you for very much for your bug report. I don't know why, but there where some characters missing in the colemak layout definition. I completed four characters for typing without shift key: '`[\ and one for typing with shift key: {.
I think there are still some characters missing for typing with Alt Gr and Alt Gr + Shift, we will add them later.
Could you please check if typing of an apostrophe now works for your case? Thank you.

Windows Installer does not define DisplayVersion

We are on the way to automatically deploy Tipp10 in our NGO.

While doing so have I recognized that the Tipp10 Windows installer does not set the DisplayVersion in the Uninstall Registry key which makes it more difficult to automatically verify what version of Tipp10 is actually installed.

A small thing but it would be great if new installer could also define the DisplayVersion like this whereas 2.1.0 is replaced with the respective version:
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\TIPP10_is1" /v "DisplayVersion" /d "2.1.0" /t REG_SZ /f

This way automatic verification would be much easier.

After a run of the first lesson, I got a Cpm of 220 with 1 error after a 5 minute test. I was rated 86 points.

Per the comparison table window, this result should have been rated for 110 points, not 86.

The score is calculated as follows:
((Strokes - (20 * Errors)) / Duration) * 0.4
according to your data:
((5 * 220) - (20 * 1)) / 5) * 0,4 = 86,4

We know about some wrong samples in the comparison table - we will correct this soon.

Weird words appearing in imported custom lesson

Hello,
I made custom lessons for a friend of mine. I imported them into his Tipp10 on his computer. While he is doing his timed lessons, words that I did not put in the lesson occasionally appear. For example, in a lesson of just the "dfjk" keys, the word "red" appeared. There have been several such words that appeared out of no where, essentially wrecking the timing of my carefully created lesson. My guess is that there is a problem with the database.

Have you come across this problem before?

Thanks for the awesome program. I really like being able to share my custom lessons, so hopefully we can get this function to work properly.

Thank you for your message. We never heard about that problem before. Especially in Germany we have a lot of users who use custom lessons. No one ever had this problem.
But in general, your problem sounds not completely impossible - I guess there is a problem with the intelligence mode. This mode selects the next text from database depending on the error rates of the already typed characters. Perhaps there is an error and we access also texts from other lessons.
We will test the software again on our side, perhaps it's a problem that appears only in the English version. We will tell you if we found a solution.

Can you say if the problem only appears when you enable the "Intelligence" or also when is is disabled?

If you are interested to have a solution until we publish the next software version: check out our online version - there we surely don't have this problem.

Is Tipp10 still being developed? The last bit of news on the Tipp10 website was in May of this year. I really like the program When is the next version due? I am hoping that the bug reported in this ticket is fixed. I prefer the software version as I can use it away from the internet.

Thank you for your request. Do you still have the problem that training is not starting? Do you have a chance to try a different browser? It should also work with IE8, but sometimes user have problems with it. Every other browser (Firefox, Chrome and so on) works much better and faster.

English training lessons are too difficult/wrongly chosen

When choosing the English training lessons with QWERTY Layout, the words that you have to type are not chosen correctly. For example in the beginner lessons, for example Lesson 1 (just the home row keys), you have to type all kinds of characters in lower and upper case. It also uses German words/sentences.

Thank you for your message. We hear about that problem the first time. Perhaps it's an Archlinux problem? But even than, we can not explain how this can happen.
Can you please try to use the German QWERTZ layout and then check if training lesson 1 only exists of the home row characters? Another try would be to rename the database file tipp10v2.db in order to create a new database by starting TIPP10.

We hope we can find the problem, perhaps we have to install Archlinux at our test environments, too. To solve the problem quick for you, you can use our free online version at http://online.tipp10.com.
